The raids by Food Safety officials
on hotels and restaurants in the city continued for the third day on Wednesday,
with many star hotels also coming under the scanner.
All six units inspected by
officials led by Assistant Commissioner for Food Safety Joseph Shaji George on
Wednesday were served notices and a fine of Rs. 55,000 was collected.
In Thiruvankulam-Chottanikkara
area, Hotel Chilanka was ordered to shut down while three units were served
notices out of the 11 inspected by N. Haleel, Assistant Commissioner for Food
Safety. A fine of Rs. 30,000 was collected.
In Vypeen, Assistant Commissioner
K. Sugunan inspected 11 units, served seven notices and collected fine of Rs.
15,000.
In Angamaly-Athani area, Assistant
Commissioner Sivadas inspected 13 units, served notices to seven and collected
Rs. 25,000 fine. In Kothamangalam/Neriyamanlam, Assistant Commissioner P.
Radhakrishnan led inspections at nine units, served notices to two and
collected Rs. 47,500 as fine.
